Responsibilities:

·  Works as a part of the Waterfront Support Team under the NMCI contract at Norfolk Naval Shipyard to provide IT support to U.S.  Navy personnel and government employees.

·   Assists customers with troubleshooting of network outages to determine cause of network fault and make an on-site repair.

·  Conducts site surveys at different customer locations so as to determine the capability to install new network drops to support desktop, laptop or printer end-user devices.

·  Runs Ethernet cables from network jack location to central switch closet and utilizing a punch-down tool connects cables to a patch panel.

·  Connects cables from patch panel to the switch maintained in the switch closet in a rational pattern for future troubleshooting. Labels patch panel according to the network jack location.

·  Moves hardware devices and peripherals from point to point ensuring that hardware is accessed to the network for the end-user.

·  Operated the AN-TRC 185 STT and AN-TRC 190D(V3) using fiber optic cabling and coaxial cabling along with Ethernet cables (Cat5, 5e & 6) to provide SIPR/NIPR-net data and VOIP access as a part of a Joint Network Node system.

·  Accessed the Regional Hub Node satellite using TDMA and FMDA based upon access needs.

·  Uploaded boot files into the AN-TRC 185 Linkway Modem. Configured Cisco routers and switches creating trunks, VLANs, inputting default gateways, assigning IP addresses, opening and closing ports to integrate client devices into the network.

·  Created Ethernet cables (crossover/straight through) to meet with client demands for a varied amount of end user items at various lengths.

·  Read command-line via putty software to troubleshoot network connections and outages. Also monitored the entire network status using Solar winds monitoring software.

·  Worked as a part of the Battalion Command Post Node (BnCPN) providing network access and support directly to the warfighter through the AN-TRC 185 STT and AN-TRC 190C (V1).
